Baremetrics alternatives
Last updated 1 November 2026
People look for a Baremetrics alternative for different reasons: the price at their revenue level, a billing provider it doesn’t read, wanting the recovery or cancellation add-ons without the analytics, or wanting the opposite, something that tells them which customers to call rather than what the churn rate was. The right alternative depends on which of Baremetrics’ jobs you were using. Details about other products are as published on their sites on the date above.
If you wanted the metrics
- ChartMogul. The closest like-for-like. Subscription analytics across many billing sources, segmentation, cohorts, and a free plan for companies under roughly $10,000 MRR. See Churnahead vs ChartMogul.
- Paddle’s ProfitWell Metrics. Free subscription analytics for Stripe and others, from Paddle.
- Stripe’s built-in reporting. Stripe Billing has MRR, churn and retention reports in the dashboard, and Sigma for custom queries. For one Stripe account with no need for segmentation beyond what Stripe offers, it may be enough.
- Churnahead’s revenue view. A renewal forecast weighted by risk, MRR movements and retention, cohorts, big renewals coming up, expansion candidates and customers on legacy prices. Not a reporting product, but it covers the numbers most small teams open an analytics tool for, from the same read-only connection as the warning list.
If you wanted Recover (failed-payment emails)
- Stripe Smart Retries, dunning emails and the card updater. Built in, free, and the first thing to turn on. They do a large share of what a paid recovery tool does.
- Churnkey, Stunning. Dunning and card-update flows on top of Stripe, priced per month or on recovered revenue.
- Paddle Retain, if you bill through Paddle. See Churnahead vs Paddle Retain.
Churnahead does not email your customers about failed payments. It tells you about them instantly and flags expiring cards weeks ahead, so you can write yourself. See involuntary churn.
If you wanted Cancellation Insights (why customers cancel)
- Stripe’s Customer Portal cancellation survey. Free. Turn it on and Stripe records a reason and a comment with every portal cancellation.
- Churnkey, ProsperStack, Raaft. Full cancel flows with offers, pauses and surveys, for self-serve products with enough cancellations to optimise.
- Churnahead’s Why they left page. Reads the reasons Stripe’s portal already collected and goes further: splits the year’s churn into card failures, disputes and real cancellations, finds what churned customers had in common, and shows the month of tenure where most of them leave. No flow of its own; it uses what Stripe collected.
If you wanted to know who is about to leave
This is the job Baremetrics was never built for, and the one Churnahead is. Every paying customer scored each day from published rules, a backtest of those rules on your own last twelve months of churn, a morning email and Slack message with the at-risk accounts, their reasons and links to act, instant alerts on scheduled cancellations and failed payments, and outcomes that close themselves so you know what was saved. Read-only access to Stripe, Paddle or Lemon Squeezy, nothing written, nothing sent to your customers. Free up to 25 paying customers. See Churnahead vs Baremetrics for the full comparison.
A note on picking
Don’t replace an analytics tool with a warning tool, or the reverse, and expect the same job done. If you need both the numbers and the list, the cheapest sound combination for a Stripe-billed company is usually Stripe’s own reporting plus Churnahead, with a dedicated analytics product added when the board asks for segmentation you can’t get from Stripe.
